CD Player Unit - 2005 TL

I have a problem and was wondering if someone can help me to understand more and/or ways to get this fixed.

I have a 2005 TL -- my CD player does NOT work. Only the radio - whenever I switch to CD/Tape mode - it doesn't do anything - and everything froze (as in tuning, volume, switch to radio mode) I'd have to actually put it on PARK and turn off the engine and back on for the radio to work.

I took it to dealership and they said I'd have to replace it - in which I do NOT have warranty on. They wanted like $1,200 to get a new CD/Tape Unit. Can I take it to any radio/car place to get it checked out and fixed?

Please help!!

Drive safely!
D.

I'm in the same boat as both of you guys! alot of people say this is a common problem with these cars. They say to just get a new one or upgrade to an aftermarket one. Im prob gonna go with the double din to make it worth the money. but please let me know if there is any other fixes.

My 04 did the same thing. Don't pay anyone to try and fix it. I paid a radio guy $150 and he says it's different than most CD changer radios. He could replace the CD part for big bucks.
I just went to a junk yard and picked one up for $250. It works like a champ, until this one breaks.
OR you could go aftermarket.

Cheapest way is replace the unit yourself. I went & got a new unit online and swap it it. = done solved the problem. You can even find replacement units on eBay.

I replaced the whole unit. I took out the radio (Non- Navigational) and then put in the one I got from the junkyard. I then called a Acura dealer to get the radio code.
