I'm having the same issue. I'm scared to stick a screwdriver in there. I tried it once and it didn't budge. I don't want to replace stereo bc I like my steering controls and don't wanna deal with all that bs. Can you put it in girl terms please?

Just did the trick using a flathead screwdriver and pushing the tape to the left (with a decent amount of pressure) and it started reading the tape again! Just remember to use a decent amount of pressure when pushing the tape to the left because at first i never really use much pressure thinking i will break it if i did but that did shit.

Lots of great suggestions.. But..

So I am having the same problem. However, my battery died in my vehicle and after I jump started it the cassette was rejected. Now I understand that this is normal for that to happen. However, whenever I answered it back in, it will read for about 5 seconds and make scratching noises and almost as if the gears are moving. Like I can tell it is working, but it won't play. It just goes right back to FM. I tried the screw driver method, its not working. Maybe I need to put a little bit more pressure? Is there any advice for a low price adapter for just simple auxillery connections?

yeah, you will have to apply some pressure. I had the same issue and it drained the battery. Next time when i started the car i applied enough pressure the radio had the cassette loading message and clicking eject button worked. The cassette came out

Whoa, this thread really helped out. Thanks OP and other posters.

My tape adapter got stuck a few weeks ago. The Disc / Tape button would not recognize that the tape is in there and would not go into tape mode. Then my battery died. Not sure if that was a co-incidence.
Jumpstarted the car yet the Disc / tape button didn't recognize that the tape adapter was stuck and would not go into tape mode. After jumpstarting the car took the car to the shop and got a new battery. Tape did not pop out. Still the same problem.

Did a search and found this thread. Used a flat-heat screw driver and removed the tape.
