Car user manual help?
Car user manual help?
Yesterday I purchased an 06 TL from a local dealer (non-acura). Today I went in the glove box and grabbed the owners manual. Everything in there says 05. There is a book titled "2005 Maintenance Journal". Inside this book, it shows a completely different VIN. It's obvious that the set of books that were in my glove box don't match up to my car. Checking my VIN, it's definitely and 06 model.
What do I need to do? Is this something Acura can replace? What do I need to do as far as the missing maintenance journal?
The car also came with two keys and one single transmitter. Are replacement transmitters available?

The remote is available at dealer. Yes you can buy the car alarm/door remote on the bay- BUT there are different versions- you need to check what it says on yours and get the same or it wont work. Then you have to program it to the car- thats a DIY procedure
Note- the keys have an immobilzer chip encoder in them and are special to the car also.
Ask the dealer parts guy how much for one from them. While you are there, introduce yourself to the Service Manager- now- before you need some warranty repairs.
Establish a good relationship now and it will help you later. Donuts are highly prized treats to Service Dept. and will generate Goodwill towards to like you cant believe
As for the owner mait. logs, thats just for convenience. You can get the free owner manual here https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...606MAINIXA.pdf
and register your car with acura at https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura
which also has all the suggested items and service schedule.
You do not have to go to the dealer for any normal maitenance to keep warranty valid, as long as its done your ok.
you need the VIN to register it- and you can store the radio security codes there, plus there is a place to log all the repairs you do yourslelf or have a shop do.
A permanent maitenance log online for future owners is a good thing.
call acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 and tell them you are a new owner- they will put you in the system for any recalls as the contact person.

Thanks! That is awesome information.
One more rather minor thing. Are front bumper plugs available for replacement? The dealer put the front plate on the car and of course didn't include the two plugs needed to cover those holes. I took the front plate off this morning and there are two huge holes there...

Go to your dealer and get the plugs for free if they were not placed in your glove compartment or into your trunk spare tire tray along with the cargo nets. Usually your salesperson or an Acura dealer's service department can get you the plugs for free since they were originally part of your car, although a few dealers try to charge for them ($19+ per plug!!).
