I have a creaking noise when I turn my steering wheel only when the car is not moving. When the car is moving and I turn there is no noise. Any ideas?

 

You mean besides not turning the steering wheel when you're not moving? (Which you shouldn't be doing, btw.)

There have been numerous issues/items with the power steering pump. Most related to some o-rings. Also, did you have the Power Steering Hose recall done? If not, you should.

If you did, was the noise there before the recall work?

It stresses the powersteering system and puts extra wear on the tires. I think everyone should start out in a non powersteering car and then you will understand the difference in stresses from stationary and moving even 1mph.

The noise only when the car is stopped is probably a worn component that only makes the noise due to the additional stress of being stopped. Compliance bushings, rack, and balljoints are a place to start.

 

I only turn a little without moving like backing into a parking space, and it only makes the sound initially from the center going right or left like 3 creaks. No mods or anything, just winter tires. I did the recall when it came out, but I did recently replace both axles to get rid of the clicking

 

So, did you have this noise before the PS hose recall?

Reason I ask is that (at least early on) Acura wasn't replacing the o-rings (or something like that) and it was letting air get in the PS Pump and making noise.
