A/C problems in 05 TL 6mt

I did some searching and didnt find anyone citing this problem. My air worked fine last summer and used it as recently as october. I go to turn it on about three weeks ago for the first time and hot air, figured....ok Ill get it recharged. took it to my dads shop today and he hooked it up to the machine and it had .04 lbs in it. He vacuumed the lines and then filled it back up to 1.15 lbs. and we turned the air on and still hot air. The ac compressor wasnt even kicking on and the freon machine on the high side the needle went way up (he said it wasnt supposed to do this) I have not a clue about hvac so dont make fun of me please. anyways we are gonna dig into it deeper in a few days but if anyone has some input to help us find the problem please let me know. I have two young sons with asthma so its not good to drive them around in this hot weather without a/c. I appreciate the help guys and gals

If there was only .04 lb in the system, there is a leak, and there is no way the high side will climb to 375 without the compressor running. Need to evacuate the system and make certain that it will pull 28 in. in about 15 minutes, let the pump run for 30-40 minutes to boil off the moisture, then shut it down and see if it holds vacuum.

Charge to capacity, see what gauges are reading, keeping the car at @1500 rpm, temp on LO, doors open. If high side extremely hot, possibly restriction.
