A/C not cooling at idle or low speeds

2005 Acura TL - A/c does not cool when car is idling or at low speeds but does cool when running down the highway. The passenger side fan kicks in when you turn on the A/C but the driver's side fan runs for a second and then stops running. Is there something I can check before taking it to a mechanic?

Both fans need to be running for cooling at idle. Check for 12v to fan connector when other fan is running. If present a failed DS fan is most likely. Intermittent start is a symptom of worn motor brushes.

good luck
