Buying an '05 TL with navigation issues?
I have been shopping for an Acura tl 3rd gen for quite some time and I came across one with everything I've been wanting but the navigation system does not work, or she says the screen doesn't turn on.
I actually haven't went and looked at the car yet but I am later today and will give an update if it just gives an error or if it doesn't turn on at all.
She shes that once or twice a month it will work but I obviously can't confirm that, nor can she prove it unless it just happens to work when I'm there.
She said she took it to an acura dealership and they said that it may be the GPS CD which is $200 replacement or she said its the GPS Box in the trunk which is a $400 replacement.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if those prices are right, and if anyone has ever had this problem in there TL?

You need to see it in person, my Navigation drive unit failed so I plan to send it to Alpine(make them for Acura). My screen still turns on, but than error code appears and Radio/Bluetooth still work. Looked it up on Azine and its either the disc is ruined or the drive itself. The GPS disc is a bit on the high side since they are like $150, but taxes and shipping if you go online may cost an extra $20.
But for the Navi drive, thats cheap I got quoted close to $3k to get a completely new disc drive and LABOR CHARGES is where they make money.
- $1,000 is for the new drive itself. the rest is labor. SMH

Well I just went and checked out the TL.
When you start the car, the navigation system shows the Acura Navi splash page, believes it says "Navigation System" and then it cycles into a never ended boot loop and keeps showing the same "Navigation System" screen after a minute or two, etc..
The asking price was 12,900, Black 05 TL with the non working Navi, 83,000 miles and Acura RL premium wheels which look really good on the car.
I talked them down to 11,500 for repairs but I would want a definite pricing on the navigation system before jumping into anything of course.
Let me know what you guys think.

RL wheels don't fit the TL just to let you know. Also I would stay away from that particular one. Odds are, it probably has other stuff wrong with it too. Seems like the navigation drive is bad not the gps dvd.
