"burned" smell in cabin?
#2
How fast were you going? The TL and some other cars are known for the rotten egg issue/burning issue. Basically when you are at a stand-still, and then punch the gas AFTER the car is warmed up to temp and go near 90+ MPH, the car will get a burning/egg smell in the car. Some say its due to fuel soaking the car's catalytic converters.

yes that kind of thing is bad for the car- its not fuel soak in the cat- its sudden overtemp of the cat with high speeds and is ruining it from the inside~
Has your car had the recall install for the ps hose done?
Check your cabin air filter- behind the glovebox, and the blower fan and its resistor, especially if you run the cabin fan on high a lot

Is it only with the heater setting, or with ac also?
Only with fan? or with everything off it still happens?
I would take the blower motor out- its 2 or 3 screws after you get to the cabin filter
and look on the back of its mounting plate- the resistor has been known to fry on gen2, so thats a place to look
Also the electrical connector piece to the blower motor is known to suffer some overheat situation and fries itself.
If so - replace the connector and the resistor--
my info is based on gen2 but problems tend to keep occuring
Also check the rear heat from the center console- open the vent!!! If its closed, air still gets blown into it by the system, it just cant escape at the vent~
You may be cooking CDs or whatever is in the center box
