Brand New Clutch Feel?
Brand New Clutch Feel?
Hi,
I just had a new clutch installed on my 04 TL (225,000 KM).
The clutch is very grabby, which is fine.
However, sometimes when engaging the clutch (pressing down the pedal) it feel like the travel from the time if feel pressure to when the pedal reaches the floor is very short.
Also, gear selection doesnt feel as smooth, and sometimes it is tough to put into 1st and reverse.
Do you guys think the self adjusting pressure plate jsut needs time (more driving) for everything to break in?
Thoughts?

pressure plates require some break in, at least thats what i experienced with a cable actuated clutch in my old integra. the pedal was SUPER light and then gradually became stiffer with the new clutch and pp. It was a completely different car in terms of feel.
was the clutch line bled at any point during the change?
not to be the paranoid guy, but it is possible that the self adjusting PP wasnt set or the preset adjustment was released while they were installing it. It apparently only takes something like a tap or a small drop to release the adjusting mechanism's tension, which would cause the PP to position itself as if it interfacing a worn clutch, causing the shifting difficulty problems since it's partially engaged. This is probably the worst case scenario short of a botched job.
