Brake squeal noise while driving

I noticed a slight brake squeal noise coming from the front driver's side of the car going into the garage today at around 5mph. The noise doesn't happen while braking. It sounds like the brake wear pad indicator squealing noise. This happened after I took a semi aggressive turn at maybe around 25mph into my culdesac. I'm hoping nothing was messed up..

I'm not quite sure what the problem is. What do you guys think? I'll check it out again in a couple of hours to let it "cool down" Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it could be that... time to change the pads.

Can you hear it when you are driving past another car or next to a wall? Does the sound go away when you hit the brakes?

i just test drove it again and the squealing was gone for a couple of minutes and then started squealing again. not sure if it's related to a heating up issue or something. the weird thing is that it doesn't squeal when I press on the brakes so I'm not sure if it's a worn brake pad issue.

If it doesn't make the sound when pressure is on the pedal, chances are the pad is moving slightly and the metal backing is making the sound against the piston. Take the pads off and apply anti squeal to the backs, let set up and reinstall.

this was back when i replaced the brake pads with new duralast gold cmax. i had to reuse the original oem shims to cure the noise issue. The new shims caused noise.

I just replaced my brakes as well with cmax gold, and now they sqeel a little when I drive, can hear it when I pass cars and walls. I threw the old stuff away, I guess I'll just regrease everything when I feel like taking my caliper off again.

turns out my entire rear passenger side brake pads are gone.. nothing but metal. I can visually compare the drivers side and it's a night and day difference. gonna go get the pads changed.

dude why would you cheap out with brakes ? Duralast CMAX GOLD really ?

Ok anyway this is my take at it....

Ceramic pads eat up your rotors since they are made of materials which do not allow them to dust....pads dusting means the pads are getting eaten up which is the purpose of brake pads when they stop the car....

About the squeal, ceramic pads are bound to squeal....but if they just started doing this, I would check the following:

While driving (~20mph) press they brakes lightly and let go....if they squeal when you applied pressure and continue to squeal after you let go, then your pads are prolly fine, you need to put some brake grease....

If they squeal and stop squealing then they are your wear indicators....

CMAX gold's aren't that bad, and I didn't have time to wait around for my pads to come in, they stop pretty well and lifetime warranty on a wear and tear item? Not too bad if you ask me.

bad if you ask me since they eat up your rotors....so you may be saving $30 on pads per warranty but you will be paying $100 for rotors replacement....

ceramic pads eat up your rotors
