Brake screws

If you can't get the 2 Phillips screws out of the front rotors can you just drill the heads off and then remove/cut off the shank?

Thats the trick!
If the impact screwdriver doesnt get them- a carbide tip drill bit makes fast work of them
Not required for re-use
They only hold the rotor for the factory so it can move on a rolling track without wheels on,
and the rotors stay in place
After that- the wheel actually holds the rotor on- torque wheel lugs to 80 foot pounds ONLY and evenly!

Some anti-seize grease goes a long way to keep them from getting stuck in there. But as mentioned, not required at all.

This is what I used to do and it worked to loosed them every time and it's incredibly simple. Before attempting to loosen the screw, place your phillips screwdriver in the screw then smack the end of the screwdriver with a hammer real good. Like your trying to drive a nail. The screw will just turn right out after that.

Some of us use the actual tool designed to amplify the force of the hammer and not destroy our screwdrivers

Its called an Impact Screwdriver- handy for many jobs around the house too
10 bucks at auto parts stores everywhere!

Of course I think everyone should own a torque wrench to keep the wheels on tight too!

Craftsman Impact Driver
Sears item #00947641000 Mfr. model #47641
$19.99

Here is a pic. Works great. Price is $19.99. The screws come loose after the first or second blow for each screw. Highly recommended.

dealers should really remove those screws during PDI. I think honda is the only company that has them.

Okay, I speak from experience when I say these impact tools are a PITA to use! It takes some time, patience, and practice. It will work, just keep with it. I used it on my Integra and it worked after some playing with it. But I assure you there were times when I was about ready to give up on the tool.
