Brake Master Cylinder Cap Gasket
Hey AcuraZine,
Can someone tell me where I can purchase a brake fluid master cylinder cap gasket for my 2004 acura TL?
A little background story, I've been pouring power steering fluid into my wife's brake fluid reservoir on her 2007 Acura TSX. (I know I am an idiot!). Her master cylinder cap gasket was inflamed so I couldn't put the cap back on. luckily the cap on my car fit so I gave her mine and off she went. Calling auto stores in the area they tell me I can only purchase the entire Master Cylinder. That doesn't sound right... but while searching online I couldn't find a cap gasket for my car. Hoping someone can help me.
Also, will it be ok if I just drained her brake fluid or do I need to replace anything? There hasn't been any signs yet that her brakes are messing up.

A quick google of "power steering fluid in brake" seems to indicate you may have a very long haul ahead of you for your mistake. My first thoughts were "if it did that to the cap gasket what's going on with every other seal in the entire system. You can guess the rest. There's no way any of us here can know the extent of the damage. IMO I think you may be screwed. If you need new "everything" (calipers, ABS unit, master...) it could exceed economic sense to repair depending on the value of a 2007 TSX (or is it a TL... you said both in your OP) and if you can do the work or need to pay someone. I really hope I'm wrong on this.
Here's just one article.
