BBK pads/rotors, brand?
BBK pads/rotors, brand?
New to the forum, I'm sure the answer is around, but still trying to figure out how to get around on the forum.
I have an 08' type-s auto. looking to get new brake pads. Do brands matter? I was looking to buy the Akebono that run around 100, I've seen other brands sell pads for about 50 bucks. looking for ceramic of course. Does the brand make a dif, or any recommendation.
Also, not sure if I'll need new rotors. I have drilled and slotted witch came with the car from previous owner. Any suggestions on choice of rotors as well, brand or style?

Folks here like the C-MAX Gold pads since they come with a lifetime warranty. Once the pads are worn, bring them back into the store and you get another free, new set!
The braking power is a little less with the C-Max and they are ceramic.
do you have a vibration when braking at higher speeds? If not, you do not need to resurface/turn the rotors. Sanding them down lightly with some sandpaper will help out when you install new pads.
OR
is there a lip at the edge of the rotor? If yes, you'll need to have them resurfaced to ensure the new pad touches the whole rotor.
OR
Get a caliper and measure the thickness of the disk. The mix/max specs should be stamped onto the disk. If the thickness is within 1-2mm of min, I'd change the rotors.
