Battery drainage?????

Ok so i have a red top optimo battery.....first it was in my truck (06 tacoma) which i had plans of installing music on but never had the chance of since i was always working.

But since i bought my car i had plans to install the system to the car...in the truck it never gave me problems and usually left the truck sit for a week without a problem..

So i washed the car on tuesday and let it sit till yesterday..and guess what battery was dead.

now my question:the battery shouldnt be dead since it came of working great on my truck and once i switched it to the car after a couple of days it was dead????

Just to let you guys know the battery only has about 6 months of light use.

parasitic battery drain, most commonly caused by the Hands Free Link.

Do a search for this issue on the forums, there are some diy's on how to replace the hfl yourself, or at least pull the fuse to the hfl to troubleshoot if the hfl is in fact the source of the battery drain

What about answering post #3? The reason I ask is its not uncommon to have a battery go down if when its changed the terminals aren't clean combined with a bunch of short trips which won't charge it. Then leave it sit and wala .. No go ..

Was it 100% dead or to low to crank it?

i am positive that i cleaned the terminales bot on the car and the truck before putting back both batterys.......

but the vehicule that had the battery has been in constante movement since we bought a peace of land down here and we have been constructing a summer house...thats why i havent been able to install a stereo in it.

Stupid question time: Did you leave the stereo in the car on while cleaning the car?

I am having that same problem...I had thought it was the battery so i replaced it with a new one... the battery is only 2 months old. But then, my battery still drains if i don't drive it for 1 or 2 days. I read in some of the old posting that you can pull out the fuse. DOes anybody happen to know which fuse it is? I also hear that the HFL wire is underneath the sunroof? IF i disconnect the HFL wire, will it be okay to just leaving hanging? i want to remove it since i don't use my bluetooth.

The HFL module can be accessed ounce you have fully removed the overhead console (not hard). I would be rather surprised if there is a DIY for this as a new unit requires a complete reprogram which occurs through calling the manufacturer. I cannot forsee any issues if one were to simply unplug the bugger.

It will. You might fix it by replacing a single $2 capacitor. There is a DIY for this. Search for the thread in the audio forum...

Not really intrested in fixing it since the bluetooth had passcode which i didnt have so there is no point for that.......plus after i disconected the hfl my alarm started working great which i had started a thread about the pager signal ......

Let me know the outcome plz cuz im disabling my hfl too and then let the car sit for 3 days. Did you completely remove the hfl unit or did you just disconnect the wire? i only disconnect the wire just wondering if im doing it right.
