Battery died for no reason??

I have an 08 tl-s and the battery was dead this morning. I drove the car yesterday afternoon for about 40 minutes with no problems. I jump started the car and let it run for about 25 minutes in the drive way. I later took it to autozone for a battery check and it was fine. while on my way to autozone i got the loose gas cap sign. i tightened it and the light went away.

now my question is..is there any correlation between the gas cap being loose and the battery dieing? (my previous car, a subaru wrx, didn't have all the fancy electronics that this car has so i'm not to familiar on how they work) i've read of the hfl draining the battery...i'm wondering if this is the issue.

i bought the car CPOed last summer with 26k on the ODO. it currently has 38k and i've done all routine maintainance myself. i've never had any issues with the car until this morning. its unfortunate...i got rid of the modified subie for a reliable car that i was keeping stock to avoid any issues and here i am on another forum asking about issues...

replace the battery.

a bad battery does funny things to the electronics.
also, when you were at the auto store, did you check your alternator?

That's how they do.

Couple years ago, I took a trip from home to a customer, ~140 miles. Parked, chatted, went to lunch, chatted, etc. Hopped in a drove home (another ~140 miles).

No problem.

1 mile from my house I stop at the gas station to fill up, get back in and the car won't start. Battery's dead.

Had to have it towed.

i haven't done a thing to the car and its been starting right up for the past couple of days. i bought a booster and keep it in the trunk now. it seems to have been just a strange anomaly.

i love the car otherwise..
the pros... its quick enough, comfortable, and my wife is willing to drive it (its auto).

the cons...its fwd, the rattle from the rear deck that no amount of dynamat can get rid of, and my wife is willing to drive it (it's auto).

Is your car still under warranty? I would have the battery replaced. My battery in my '07 TL-S did the same thing a couple of times. I finally took the car into the dealer, the battery failed their load test, and it was replaced.

I'd just replace the battery, less then 100 bucks...I think that's cheaper then the dealership diagnostic fees.

Angry acura batts suck sorry

I love my acura but i have had a few issues with it.
1 i have had my battery die 8 times and it has been replaced 8 times. Just so you know most cars automatically turn of interior lighting after 5 minutes if the car is OFF. This car does not so maybe once or twice the door was left open or a inside light was left on MAYBE im not sure. There was a bluetooth defect though. which required the bluetooth to be replaced. The issue was with your cell and the bluetooth. The car would leave the bluetooth ON and if you did not drive your car for a week your batt would be slowly drained which im disabled so i only start my car up a few times a week and it kept killing my batt.

ALSO a type S issue ONLY it seemed when the type S first came out if you were talking on your phone though the car there was sound coming though the speakers that sounded like a short but only happened while on the phone. Later they tested all the type S's on the lot and learned it was a glitch which they have fixed. They said they cut a wire which sounds strange to me.

recently though my batt died again and the dealer told me the acura batts are crappy. So i carry a jump start in my back seat of the car since you cant open the trunk with no power with out pulling that cable and the last time i pulled that cable it broke. Also i got a trickle charger for like 29.99 and i charge my batt like once a month since we do have so much electronic stuff in our car.

The only other issues i have had are also recent my back up cam is all wavy and scrambled or does not turn on (which is very very random) this can last for 20 second to a minite to the whole car ride.
my nav also just freezes none of the buttons on the radio work nor does the touch screen and the nav just freezes where it is in its directions.
I have videoed with my cell the issues with the back up cam and acura opened a tech ticket with the corp offices. I have not gone back in to show them the locked up of the nav i am hoping to catch it on my cell so i can show them. Oh and 2 times the front passenger window just opened on its own.

I have the extended warranty i only have 6000 miles on my car and it is garage kept i got it in nov of 2006 but its a 2007 type s TL red outside black inside

As far as cars go i love my car and acrua make a good one and the dealer is very nice about everything with my car

And you get a battery with 700CCA instead of the OEM battery's 550CCA and more reserve capacity to boot.

the car's been running tip top..no issues. i feel it had something to do with the loose gas cap, but who knows.

i had a load test done and it passed.

stealerships suck...and i would like to avoid them to the best of my ability, but if warranty work is required i will bite the bullet and take it in. if it happens again...i will make an appointment. till then...fingers crossed so all stays status quo.
