Battery died

I was just reading about the battery life on the 3rd gen. TLs and how they will quit without any warning. I went to start my 08 TLS this morning in the garage and she was dead as "Kelseys nuts". I called the dealer in Peabody, Ma. and they said it was covered under warranty. I have 46 k on the car. I jumped it and drove it up there, having the oil changed and a three quart transmission change while its there, drive safe.

My dealer load tested mine at last oil change, about 3,000 miles ago. IT'S FINE! they said. Well, a cell went bad & it left me stranded at 4:00am. THANKS ACURA! It's a scam if you ask me, this way you bring the car back to ACURA.

Had my car multi-point inspection, and the battery failed the test.

Car still starts up, but I should get a new battery soon.

Dealer wanted $160 installed for the battery.

Trust me from experience. I worked at Acura in the service department when these cars were still being produced. Whether its the Delphi electronics battery or the Acura Battery, they are both junk. it seemed like all I ever did was replace batteries. Getting an optima battery was one of the best things I did for my 04. Cost a little bit, but it wont give you any problems.

word. I swapped mine after 2 years with a yellow top and it wasnt even bad yet. After reading about all the folks with crappy oem batteries, I decided it simply was not worth the risk of getting stranded or inconvienced by a dead battery.

Broken fog light lens

As I mentioned earlier, I had my 08 TLS at the dealers today for a battery replacement under warranty. They also changed the oil and did a three quart flush on the trans. Service advisor called to tell me one of the lens on my fog lights were cracked. I said go ahead and fix it, she said it would be $503.00 Needless to say I didn't have them repair the unit. They informed me, you have to buy a whole new unit, $330.00 and remove the bumper to replace the fog light. All I have broken is a tiny section of the lens, the fog light works and there doesn't seem to be any moisture in the unit. There must be a better solution, I'll let you know.

You're best bet is to just replace it with a new one. Or you can give these a try
http://www.uniquestyleracing.com/20actloemfog.html you'll have to let me know how these are if you get them, I've been contemplating getting these.

car was starting to act weird last week... during cranking, the dash lights are flicker looking like it was struggling to get power and you could hear the car struggle to turn over...

battery was replaced a year and a half ago under warrnty since it failed the load test... will take it to acura tomorrow for them to check out, but most likely if it happens again, i'll go with an aftermarket battery...

Ask the stealership to give you the money (cost price of the battery to them) then go and buy an aftermarket one.

I wouldn't even take the car in for a battery failure, especially Acura/Honda's easier to just change them out using WAlmart's Energizer or Costco's Kirkland batteries (both made by Johnson Controls Inc)

i may do this if it happens again in the near future... i sent my dad with the car to the dealership since i couldn't get off of work... if they replace it, then we see how long it lasts until i'll b!tch at them to do your costco option...

great idea tho... have you had success with the stealerships agreeing to do this???

stealership strikes again... took the car in... they said my warranty expired in Dec... so to replace the battery would be $130 installed... i asked why doesn't the battery have its own warranty... the service mgr said that unfortunately, they will only cover it under the warranty period... if the battery was purchased a day before the warranty expired, and it died the next day, i would still have to buy a new battery...

i was like ok put in my old battery, i am going to costco... i'm not spending that money for a crappy oem battery that will crap itself in another year and half...

I've used Costco (Kirkland) batteries for years. I have 2 that are still pumping and there almost 6 years old. I just bought one today for my truck ($64)
