Hi guys, I got this 05 TL last September. Firstly, I'd say thank you so much as I've learned and fixed so many things through posts here. Like fixing audio noise by replacing the amplifier, replacing power steering pump, etc.

I recently noticed this noise from engine bay when idling. Seems on and off randomly. When turning steering wheel or the ac kicking in, the noise seems to occur with it continuously.

I used car stethoscope and found the noise can be heard from the alternator but not from the engine or power steering pump.

 

Today I replaced the serpentine belt tensioner assembly with this Dayco stuff. So far haven't heard any clicking noise.

 

I know your new here, but a good thing to follow when replacing major components is to always buy OEM.
The item you bought above is not OEM and will likely fail prematurely.

 

Thanks. I'll see how my luck this time with Dayco as it's easy to get around here. The original one came off I'll try to replace bearing as a back up.
I replaced the power steering pump and amplifier with junk yard ones. They seemed to be holding up fine so far but I guess they are genuine parts.
