I have a 2004 TL with a bad trans. I purchased a 2007 AV6 BAYA (7RATAE6) as a replacement the shop that is doing the removal and install has informed me that the torque converter with the av6 will not work/fit the TL.
In all my searching i did not come across anything mentioning a potential issue with the converter. can anyone shed some light on this.

 

the transmission itself is a direct swap, you need to swap over the TL TQ converter (highly recommend replace with a new one) and transmission range switch.

 

Any recommendations on where to buy a new converter?

are the av6 and tl flex plates differnt?
the new TL converter is not recessed in the case of the baya and it has interference with the flex plate the fit is definitely not right. has anyone else had this issue i cant seem to find and info regarding similar issues

 

the converter will not seat into the trans case as deep as the original trans and converter the difference is about .200
