Auto Off Head Light Setting?

Brand new 08 TL Navi. Personal settings auto headlight off setting. Not sure if I understand this. I have this setting set to 30sec I would think this means after I remove my key the headlights stay on for 30 sec then shut off. My lights turn off as soon as I shut off the engine even if the light switch is set to auto and if I let the switch on headlights on they just remain on never turn off. Whay am I doing wrong

Not to be confused with the auto setting on the turn signal column. This is the setting in the personal settings menu. Thats where you set auto door locks and doors lock when you go 10mph etc etc. The setting is so you can see to take the groceries in or get the kids out of the car then the headlights auto turn off after a preset time frame that you decide from 0sec to 60sec. If you happen to lock the doors with the key fob they turn off, but if you don't they will stay on till your preset time is up. So I have did some additional testing. Mine will work auto time frame turning off when you leave the lights on parking or headlights. It will not work when you set the column switch to auto. If you turn off the ignition in the auto setting the lights turn off. The owners manual says the lights should stay on for your preset time even though you shut the car off and its set to auto. Mine don't. Just curious what others do. Maybe I got a defective something or other. In further news a couple days ago my battery was dead. For no reason no door ajar and no map lights left on. I read in the manual tonight that the auto column setting should be turned off if you plan on storing the vehicle more then a week. Well mine was like 48hrs and thats the only thing I can think that would have caused it. One more question. I have the personal settings set to beep when I lock the doors. Well it don't beep unless I press the lock button twice. Is that right I have to hit it twice to hear the beep.

I had an 06, so I am not sure how different the system is, but my headlights would stay on until I locked the doors, at which point they would shut off if I had them in the "on position".

I think that setting you referring to controls how long the lights stay on when you first unlock it, not sure though.

As far as the beep, every honda/acura I have owned locks on the first press, and beeps/honks on the second, I guess Honda wanted to make sure you can show off your high tech factory alarm to bystanders...

I think I covered everything, but I only skimmed your huge paragraph, so I may have missed something...

the auto off feature in your personal setting will turn the lights off after a set time, but not until you close your door....ie, you forget to turn off your lights and get out of your car, then you close the door and the lights will go off after that set time....

Wink Auto Off Setting

That is correct that is where I'm getting confused. The manual says that the delay should work on the auto headlight setting. It does not though.

its technically still "auto-off" since the headlights are automatically turning off after the set time. you guys are right though, the headlights must be left in the ON position for them to turn off after the set time. if you place the switch to Auto then the headlights will turn on/off according to the light sensor
