Auto-Manual Transmission Shifts Hard
I have a 08' and lately the transmission has been hard shifting between 2nd and 3rd. Does the transmission need to be flushed? This only happens when I initially start driving than it's fine. It may be nothing, but since its certified I am going to have them look at it.

You don't flush a manual transmission.. you do a drain and fill.
Most likely your problem is the infamous third gear issue which has the following symptoms of which, one, a combination, or all may be present:
o Hard to shift into third gear.
o Grinding when attempting a shift into third gear.
o Popping out of third gear after a shift.
You can either take your car in for the TSB or you can elect to do a drain and fill with GMSFM (General Motors Synchromesh Friction Modified) fluid, part #12377916 as most on this site who have had these problems have done. Do a search on this magic in a bottle and you will turn up a wealth of information. Here's a copy of the text of the TSB posted by Turbonut:
TSB 08-018
TSB Number: 08-018 NHTSA Number:10026204 TSB Date: July 18, 2008 Date Added to File: October 7, 2008
Failing Component:
Power Train: Manual Transmission
SYMPTOM:
The 6-speed manual transmission grinds when shifting into 3rd gear, pops out of 3rd gear, or is hard to shift into 3rd gear.
NOTE: These symptoms can be intermittent and sometimes more noticeable in colder climates.
PROBABLE CAUSE:
The transmission has a faulty 3rd gear synchronizer or 3-4 shift sleeve.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
Replace the 3rd gear set.

How does it shift in full auto versus the sport shifting?

I just got an 08 auto trans cert pre-owned and am noticing the same thing. I haven't been driving long enough to know if goes away after I've driven it for a while. I have about 51k miles on it. Owned the car about 3 weeks and am unimpressed with the transmission smoothness. I think mine works better when i control the shifting versus in auto only mode. Could it be anything mechanical?
