Atealership robbing me blind? Help!!

So I'm at the stealership with my 2008 tl-s and I need new front brakes. They say to eliminate the squeaking they also need to resurface my rotors. True? I say no that only needs to be done if my rotors are warped, and so he starts stumbling on his words and tells me the only way he can gurantee the squeaking to go away is if the rotors are resurfaced. All for 530.00!! Can someone help me and quick. Thanks in advance.

The brakes I'm having done only because I'm short on time but I wanted to know is it necessary to have my rotors resurfaced at every brake change? Thank you for the help also.

Is it $530 total, including the pads? The price is high because the OE brake pads for TL-S at the dealership is $220 + for just the pads.

Even if you are short on time, it's only a couple pins that hold them in the caliper. It takes longer to get the car jacked up and on stands then it does to actually change the pads. Takes maybe 15 minutes per side, and that's if your doing it slow.

Dealerships will charge to alot more than a mechanic will in my experience and NO you do not have to resurface rotors on every brake change.

Thank you guys all for your help, it came out to be 320 for everything without tax..... No resurfacing, just the front two brake pads changed. 200 for the pads, 120 for labor!?!?!?Grrr in the future I'm going to try and do it myself.

I just changed the rotors & pads this morning on mine , if it was just the pads all you do id loosen 1 bolt , remove the other, flip the 1/2 the caliper up and slip out the old pads .. compress the piston back and slip in the new pads. Reverse the proceedure to assemble.

After market ceramic pads from places like auto part warehouse for the EBC Front Brake Pad Set - Redstuff Ceramic 3000 - Ceramic for less than $130

Do them yourself or have a trusted mechanic do them. The front brake job for a TL-S is expensive because you have brembos up front. Cutting the rotors will not get rid of the squeaking, which by the way is also charactoristic of brembo brakes. Good brakes, but noisy, and the stock pads wear out quick.

He's got a TL-S, you don't even need to remove the caliper to change the pads. They are held in with 2 pins and a spring. Knock the pins out, and you can pull them out though the opening in top of the caliper.

Def got raped on the labor.

The rotors should be resurfaced or replaced whenever replacing worn out pads. Front OEM pads for the '04/5/6 6MT and '07/8 Type-S can be bought on line for about $165 with shipping from www.oemacuraparts.com or www.acuraoemparts.com.

Only if the rotor is warped.. it's not necessary to turn or replace on every pad replacement unless the rotor is noticeably worn. If it looks & feels like flat glass I wouldn't touch it.

Some members are sporting the Duralast CMAX Gold ceramic pads with good results. $60.00 at Autozone.

+1 on hawk performance pads, I've used then on 2 of my cars, and my cousin has them on 3 of his (s2000, 98 TypeR [track day car], and 91 integra SCCA race car) and they work very very well.

Pads and rotors are wear and tear items, no they are not covered under warranty.
