anyone else experience this

ok so this is kinda weird/freaky.

i dunno if anyone else has experienced this, but at high speeds, 110+ did anyone's interior lights FLASH on for a sec and go right off? along with a sound, the same sound u get when u pop ur trunk.

the first time it happened i thought it was me imagining things, but this happened atleast 3-4 times now.

So you admit to going 110+ at least 3 or 4 times?

Really, what kind of a response did you expect to hear from us?

Of course he should be going 110+!! He never said it was on public roads. Shame on you if it was.

Thumbs up

I know a few years ago I was given an 07 Corolla for my job and every time we went over 90 on the highway there in the SF Bay Area we had something similar happen to us. We used it over the course of two full years and it always gave us a little warning sound at 90+mph.

From what I understood after talking to a few people, it was a built-in feature that in essence "slaps you on the wrist" for going that fast. At least for the Corollas.

It may be the same for the TL's, but I don't know, since the fastest I've gone here in Utah is just shy of 90, and even then when I need to get out of a bind like some fool merging without looking so I punch it to avoid getting hit.

Going any faster than that is asking for a ticket, no matter where you're at...

It's probably the sensor in one of the doors not making good contact. The wind at those speeds can put a slight vacuum on the doors and try and pull them open. Only thing is, I would think you would have the same issue when cornering hard or hitting bumps.

This is not a feature of the TL, I've been well past those speeds before and never had this happen.

There could be a problem, but anywhere you take to get it fixed will not like the fact of you going 110. Then again, idk why people are making such a big deal, ya it is dangerous, and ya he shouldn't do it, but it is not your business! Don't speed, and don't worry if people speed.

People are making a big deal because they (including their families) have to share the road with these clowns. To answer the OP question, no it's not a safety feature of the TL.

I tried to ignore the speeding part but I guess if you're going to push the issue....

We care because we share the road with the speeders. If someone doing 110mph hit my family, he better hope the police found him before I did.

I've been to the track and I've taken the car out on an unused abandoned highway for top speed testing. If I hurt or kill someone it will only be myself.

I love how the TL forums are full of people that give the same response. We get it. They went 110.. Sure it's not the best thing to do..But quit with all the personal attacks! Drop it. The person is asking if anyone had experienced this problem with the [lights]. I with my 05 TL, have went over posted speeds multiple times, but do it in areas that I am lucky to have...(Dead Highways up in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no one around). I've never had this lighting problem happen to me. I think it's just a loose wiring or something pretty simple. I wouldnt worry too much about it.
I just get a tad bit annoyed that I see the same lecturing going around from people that say they "havent" went above 80 in their TL. lol enough with my small vent... :P

I agree 100% with what [I hate cars] is saying.

^^ Going above 80 and doing 110 multiple times are two totally different things. I sit at 75-80 all day long and that isn't a big deal. Doing 110 multiple times is. We aren't "lecturing" anyone, but we are putting our two cents in where it's needed. This is a classic example of why young drives are at such high rates. I was young too and I understand it but we still have a say if we think it's wrong....We share the roads, not own them. Got to a track kids and drive like that, but not on the roads where my kids are at risk!!!

I've never experienced anything like that and I've been well past that speed. Weird, but keep us posted if you find out what it is.

I agree with I Hate Cars... could be your door being sucked out from a sort of "vacuum" effect

As for the 110+... well, we've all done it once or twice.... as you grow older, you'll realize whats right, and whats wrong. I personally

I dont think I've ever taken my 4G up to 100mph yet... When I go to Atlantic City, i like to push it now and then @ 90mph or so (65mph speed zone)... I did some silly things with my Black 3G TL.... looking back on it, it was so dumb. never again.

He posted a question about a problem he had. Stop being pricks about his speeding or don't post. Really who gives a damn. I have never had that problem before, 6MT, and I have been that fast before.
