Anybody had this issue?
Hi Guys,
I have a 2007 TL-S, drove off the dealership in late July 2007.
So, the car is still pretty new, just over 2 years and around 32K miles.
These past few months, I had this issue that the car would not move...
I've notice it must be something with the transmission, like I'll shift to D, and hit the gas, and the car would not move forward, and not even if I put it in R...
And sometimes, after many intents, the car would move, but just slowly.
Some other times, I'll have to turn off the engine, and restart it to back to normal, so, this situation happened sporadically for the past 6 months.
Yesterday and today, the car would stop and go nowhere for at least 30 mins...
And the engine icon light would be on most of the time this happened, and sometimes VSAS icon light would be on too...
And yesterday, the Navigation showed a transmission problem code P0796...
Has anybody had this P0796 before?

Ok guys, here's the update.
Apparently, Stevens Creek Acura never seen P0796 message, neither did Corporate Technical engineers.
They know what that code means, but no idea about how to solve it.
So, apparently Corporate told dealership to change the transmission fluid, and then give it a test drive, which they did. Everything seemed to be fine now, and right after a couple of hours, they decide to test drive it again.
And same error message code P0796 showed up in the Navigation LCD.
Again, they've contacted Corporate Acura, and the technical engineers suggested to just install new transmission systems.
So, they called me telling me to keep the loaner for a week or two, until they get my car fix...
I wonder, if this is normal? Is it good? Well, as long as anything is new, I guess is good, but, any thoughts?

NOT normal, however, a new transmission at 32000 miles isn't the worst deal u could get. It's covered under warranty and you should not have that problem ever again. Plus you won't need to replace the tranny fluid for awhile.
I got lucky with my last car. A 2000 accord... at 59,826 miles, the transmission was leaking. So, i got a new one under warranty. The warranty was supposedly up at 60K.
The car ran better/faster than any mile prior.
Good luck

it is really good, is a new trans. well probably rebuild, but still like new, and up to specs.
And no i dont think is normal, actually it looks like they never had the problem b4, cuz they dont even know wat it is. Hopefully they'll check ur old tranny and get some feedback on the problem and some posible solution.

Looks like it's a problem with the solenoid that orders the hydraulics to do their job. Easy fix is to replace the transmission since it doesn't involve the dealer toying with the internals of the trans. This way certified and trained folks who know how to properly disassemble and reassemble the trans can fix the internal problem without screwing something else.
