Im usually pretty good at guessing noises. But this one has me stumped. Could be paranoia.

I have noticed 4th and 5th gear whine on this car before. Happens when I am coasting between 2k and 3k rpm. I think I have read about that before.

But now, on the highway in 5th or 6th I get a mechanical noise, but not as high pitch as a whine. And it increases when I am accelerating. If i downshift to 5th and punch it, its loud, almost drowning out the engine. Only sometimes do I hear it when I am coasting. I did recently put snow tires on it so maybe its that, but it doesn't sound like road noise to me. And I only notice it at higher speeds.

This one has me a little nervous as it sounds like the tranny. Any thoughts?
