Air filter issues

I posted this question in the performance forum but wanted to get it up here too. I have a 2008 Tl types and I ordered a K&N Typhoon Intake System for my 2008 Acura Tl Type S and am having difficulty with the installation process. I can't get the heat shield to bolt up right plus the directions say to remove the mass air sensor from the old intake box, however the mass intake sensor on my model is on the throttle body. Has anyone up here done one before or ran into the problems that I am having??

Here's the instructions link: http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/69-1210_inst.pdf

Not sure if you meant to add that in your post, but I removed the link as it was to a closed (duplicate) thread.

TL doesn't have a Mass Air Sensor. What you are refering to is an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.

On other intakes, I think some people relocate the IAT and some leave in it's stock location.

Don't know anything about the K&N heatsheid. Well, other than that kit was developed for a 2008 Accord with a J35Z2; not a J35A8. So there might be some slight differences with bolt locations, etc. Oh, and with sensors and sensor locations. @ K&N.

Thanks for the help Bearcat. They didn't send me the new updated version of the instructions that you linked me too, so i appreciate that. I also didn't know that was an air temp sensor. You wouldn't happen to know what people do if the relocate the IAT would you. I ask that because that would leave a blank spot where it originally was. I have thought about just putting some silicon in the intake tube where the sensor goes but didn't know if anyone else had done this. Thanks again.

Here's a couple of threads to look at on moving the IAT.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/might-have-cured-surging-problem-625689/

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=relocate+IAT

Here's a pic from that 2nd thread:

Doing a search of "Relocate IAT", I really couldn't find anyone who did it and kept it. You can look at AEM intakes (or AEM intake instructions) since they require/suggest it too. I think the CompTech SC does too.

As far as relocation, I can't tell for sure, but if the sensor screws in, couldn't you just plug the TB location with threaded plug of the proper size?

Like so:

Thanks Bearcat. I had to do some re-engineering on the thing but I finally got it put in. It looks awesome and I can really tell a difference. The sound it makes when you lay on the throttle is chilling.
