Aftermarket rear side markers popping out, should I glue?

I purchased some type-s smoked rear side marker lights and now they are popping out. When I first installed them 3 weeks ago they clipped in pretty tight. But yesterday when I was waxing my car I noticed that they are barely sitting in there and come right now with any pull. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and what their fix was. Also, if I decide to glue them in; is there any glues that would be bad for the paint? or any glues that wont hold up in the weather?

I would take them out and inspect the plastic clips and figure out why its not clipping in!
I had to shave my clips slightly.

I know Rockstar took a knife to it....i dont know how he did it but i can only guess he cut a little tab in there so it would "click" and fit...

i personally would not use glue as if the sidemarker goes out, replacing it will be a bitch...

We used to use rubber cement on our side markers back in the day... Strong enough to hold it in - not too strong that you can't pull it out.

My rear USR sidemarkers are the same way. I used some 3m double sided tape and It works wonders.

That is a great suggestion! I think I will try that. I was also thinking of trying some silicone caulk, that shouldnt be to hard to get off it I needed to remove them.

No kidding! I would have bought OEM side markers. But they were much more expensive!

I see this is an old post, but any updates? Just got a set of smoked Type S rear markers (Depo) and despite shaving down the think foam gasket, they still dont fit right! Ugh.

I was going to say trimming that foam gasket worked for me. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you could do!

I've trimmed off most of their thick gasket and it still won't fit. When I try to push it back I.nto place, it won't lock into place flush with the body like the OE does. Ugh. Aftermarkets.

I had to stick it in there then push it forward as far as it would go.. then press as hard as you can on the rear while pushing it back. I eventually got it to clip. I never touched them after that. Good luck!

Well it all depends on what you want for your end result. Do you want stock OE Base, or, like me, do you want that upscale Type S look? Sometimes we have to go through a little bs to gain great results. don't give up on what you want.

I think it looks good on some colors and not so much on others.. I had AM so it made sense. It's really not that hard. You can make it work with the aftermarket units.

its as simple as finding the thick spot and sanding it down.

idk why anyone would have an issue getting them to clip into place onto the car.

the only thing i had to do (unrelated) was dremel off part of the connector on the NEW USR sidemarker itself, in order to fit onto the rear connector harness on my type-s (applies to type-s only)

but yeah its not rocket science...see which wont part go in, figure out why, sand/cut accordingly.

Aaron/Justin

I dont think the issue is putting it in the issue is, for it to stay in....

OP, there is a tab which "locks" with the opening...if the tab is tooo small/thin on your sidemarker where its not locking in, take small flathead and extend the tab...it should be able to sit flush....

Another issue is that there are a few different aftermarket units and I suspect the consistency of the product is somewhere between slim and none.
