Aftermarket AC Compressor Suggestions?

Hey guys! So my AC system apparently has suffered from the Black Death and is no longer blowing cold air. Since I only use my AC a few months out of the year, I don't want to invest the whole $1,400 (including labor) that I was quoted to replace the system. SO, I would prefer to save about $500 (or more) and get an aftermarket compressor and possibly other aftermarket parts.

Does anyone have suggestions on a specific brand or website to get these parts from? I need to check with the shop which parts I need and which ones I don't, but general suggestions would be great!

Thank you!

I've checked Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | Factory Acura Parts and Honda Parts Unlimited | Genuine OEM Honda Parts & Accessories and I could save like $200, but I'd much rather save $500 if people don't have strong feelings against aftermarket parts for a system that's not even used year-round y'know?

(If those two websites are what kind of thing you were referring to)

The oem ac compressor is made by Denso.

Look up the denso part #.

I know because i replaced the compressor in a 07 v6 accord with a denso unit. I bought it in amazon brand new for $200 shipped.

Oem honda websites wanted like $500- $700 for the exact same part.

There you go... just saved you almost $400 and its OEM exact part. Not aftermarket.

No problem with aftermarket so go to RockAuto and check the Denso and other units available, along with the other parts that might be needed.
Use code 896A54E1A1C600 for a 5% discount, good thru 9/14/16.
If the compressor internals have contaminated the system, better make certain it's cleaned, or the all parts are replaced, or the compressor may enjoy a short life.

Done, thank you!! Like I said up there, I'll just ask the shop what other parts I need since I know next to nothing.

I'm an old guy, bed early, up early, but turn around is fair play. I've always used Dino oil in the cars as it's been fine and no sense spending more on synthetic, but thanks to your info, I purchased 12-5 qt containers, Full Synthetic Super Tech 5w-20, $12.23 each ($2.45/qt).

Most A/C systems will last a lifetime, but problems do occur. The daughter's Maxima has 255k miles and no problems, our '08 knock around car 235k miles, compressor a little noisy but running fine, etc, so good luck.

If and when the compressors disintegrates which happens occasionally, it is difficult to clean the various components, so better to do replacements, providing pricing is adequate, firewall forward. Also, make certain the amount of the correct oil is used in the new components.

Go to rockauto and buy the original Denso A/C compressor (the very one our cars came with from the factory) for a lot less! Just under $200 last I checked.

I did when I had to replace mine a few years ago.

i agree denso is the best aftermarket compressor, but if you have the black death you will need to replace the condenser as well or you will blow up that nice new compressor ,

and flush the rest of the system , a new expansion valve would be a good idea also. system MUST be completely clean or you are wasting your money. and correct amount and type of oil.

It's stating it won't fit a tsx? And denso has no part listed on their cross reference chart.btw I have an 06 if that matters. Tia

Lol I didn't even notice it was for tl.
Thanks for the link but that for a radiator I need an ac compressor. I have searched high low. I'm not sure denso made one for that year. I see ucd, four Seasons are either of those any good?

I have a lightly used A/C Compressor. I had it installed last November, and my trans died in July... It ran me $550 to install I will sell it for $180+ shipping if you need one still.

Just an update for everyone...

I got my compressor replaced with a DENSO from RockAuto and it worked great for about two months before failing once again... The shop did everything they were supposed to and I got a replacement part for free, which is now in my car... Unfortunately I was forced to pay for labor again, although the shop did catch me a break...

The shop said it was something wrong with the clutch on the part I think so hopefully it actually was just the part itself.

Praying that the replacement compressor actually works when I go to use the AC next summer

That sucks. At least they honored the parts warranty. If it was the clutch, then the compressor itself didn't get contaminated. Just for reference, did your mechanic replace any system parts other than the compressor?

Yeah, they replaced everything you're supposed to like the condenser and drier and whatnot.. and did a system flush so I think it had to have been the part itself.
