Adjusting windshield fluid jets

Apologies if this is discussed somewhere, but I couldn't find anything related.

Is there a way to adjust the aim of the jets that spray washer fluid onto the windshield? I've noticed that mine spray pretty high and I lose 1/2 of it onto and over the roof of my car. It gets my sunroof spotty when it dries too.

As you were.

Insert a paper clip, pin or large needle into the nozzle and push down slightly to adjust the spray area lower.

You shouldn't feel dumb at all, as it isn't something that's mentioned in the owner's manual and there's no obvious adjustment on the nozzle mounting pieces. Car forums exist to help us with those odd or unusual problems.
