Acura TL 2006 - White smoke, Runs hot!
Afternoon,
I have an Acura TL 2006 -190,000 Miles. Just replaced timing belt and water pump 2 months prior to issues. I maintained fluids and car still overheats, I now have alot of white smoke billowing out of exaust and extream overheating. Im not driving the car and will have a independent machanic inspect... Sound like heads blown, gasket? Since it might need major work, what affordable upgrades might you add to save on labor? Better heads etc?

The forum where you originally posted, The AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

I agree, sounds like a blown headgasket. I would verify first though. Does it lose coolant? It would have to lose coolant if it's coolant you're seeing coming out of the tailpipes. Does the oil have water in it?
Once you have the heads off you can have them ported but I don't think the gains are worth it to do the heads alone. They're not cheap but if you can swing the cost of bigger cams, ported intake runners, and ported heads, and precat deletes, all of which compliment one another, the gains would be much better. Labor should be the same since all of those parts have to come off and be reinstalled anyway so you're just paying for the parts and mods to the heads.
There's a memeber "i love cars" that has done extensive work with head porting and cams. He spent a ton of money but took the guess work out of it so it will be cheaper for everyone else. If you're interested in building a killer naturally aspirated TL, I would look up his build.

I agree that it sounds like blown head gaskets. You may also want to check the coolant overflow (When the car is hot) while its running and see if there are bubble coming up through it. I had a civic that wasnt eating antifreeze but it was pressurizing the coolant overflow.
As far as the heads go, I Hate Cars had the best advise. Its not worth having them ported unless you are going to go all the way and support the port job with ported runners and cams.

yeah white sweet smelling smoke out of exhaust = blown gasket or a crack somewhere (less likely)
