Acceleration Issue Just Got Worse
Acceleration Issue Just Got Worse
Hey guys,
Been reading these forums for a while, but just now joining. My 2004 TL is currently stuck in a parking lot, and I figured the best place to find some answers would be this place. I've found quite a bit of information regarding the APP sensor but not enough to satisfy me before jumping in and purchasing a new sensor. If I could, let me explain what's going on:
Six months ago, I was driving down the interstate. All of a sudden, the check engine light came on, the VSA light came on, and my car would no longer accelerate. I could maintain my current speed without any problems, but as soon as I slowed down and/or stopped, it would take 30 seconds to reach 15-20 mph. The fix that worked for me was turning off the engine and starting it back up.
That problem went away for a while, and showed up again about a month ago. I took it by an Autozone just to have them run their diagnostics on it and it said the error was coming from the APP sensor, stating incorrect voltage. At the time it wasn't happening but once every couple weeks, so I had ignored it.
Yesterday, I was at a stop light, and it refused to accelerate at all. After about 20 minutes of sitting there, and several times restarting the car, I got it to go about 50 yards (to a parking lot) and has since refused to accelerate for me.
Should I break down and buy the APP Sensor from AcuraOEMParts, or should I take it to a decent mechanic first to make sure that it's the culprit?
I apologize if all of this information has been laid out in a previous thread. I saw several, but never an explanation of the initial problem.

Its the app sensor. I would just buy it and replace it. My app sensor went out about month ago. The car would drive fine for a few miles then the peddle went dead and threw a cel for the app sensor. Swapped the sensor and no more problems.
I would say yes. You could try to call some local dealers and see if they will price match but most want. Its an expensive part but if you take it to the dealer they will charge you double
