Acceleration

Anyone expirience:

I have a 6mt 2006 TL about 70k. Sometimes the car pulls at about 2500 rpm and up and seemless, shifting is smooth and feels balanced. Other times the accelerator feels like there is pressure behind it, shifting isnt as smooth when you go through the gears, and it feels like something is holding the engine back. When this happens almost no torque at under 3000 rpm and hard downshifting esp from 4th to 3rd. The car doesnt feel real pull until 3500 rpm. Also the car doesnt feel as balanced when this happens and car pulls tramlines alot more than normal wit th imperfections in the road.

Any clues?

Is your A/C on or off at those different times? Gas grade? Tire pressure?
As far as tramlining goes? Our cars are known for that.
Good luck

Premium shell, exxon, pretty much any premium gas. Ac is off if the AC is on the drag you typically feel when the ac is on is worst. When the car is dragging I cant even keep up with a corrolla off the line until I ht a minimum 4000 rpm to keep up initially.
The tramlining gets worst when this is going on.

TP is 34f/33r

No this is intermittent cold, warm, hot weather. Wondering if a faulty coil would cause this but that would not affect the physical feel when shifting gears

I/ve had this problem for so long, most of the time my car feels like that too. On occasion the problem goes away an the car feels amazing so i start thinking I would never give this thing up. So far i have replaced the intake temperature sensor, coolant and thermostat, app sensor, transmission with Redline Racing Fluid. But as all seem to help a little bit the real problem never goes away. I did some bolt-on's as well like the intake, rv6v3 jpipe, thorttle body spacer, third cat delete and such... it improved the performance but the real problem not.

The car, most of the time just has bad low end torque and its not smooth in acceleration whatsover. As the op stated you gotta really push it to stay up to speed. The car feels very heavy. I still wanna try and change the knock sensor, even though ive never had any codes shown.

The only thing i can rememeber was a long time where i went on a trip in summer time and after driving for a long time at some point the car just couldnt get up to 80 mph no matter how much i pushed the pedal.

I had the dealer look at it and as usual they always will tell you that the car is running fine.

After that i tryed all those things i mentioned before. Ive never had such an incident again but still problems with low end and no smooth acceleration.
