AC Problemmmm HELP
Ok I know it's still march but the temperature had hit over 75farenheit here in NYC. I've just got my all 5 windows tinted and couldn't open window. Sooo... I decided to turn on the ac. Then realized my ac was blowing hot air. The vent circulating inside was on I assumed that was the problem and turned if off but temperature got slightly cooler but not ac cool as it suppose to... Any suggestion and ideas? I gotta deal with this again tomorrow!! T.T
Check to see if the compressor is being energized when the A/C is switched on, and make certain it hasn't been shut off manually, then we'll go from there, low charge or something faulty in the electrics.
The A/C gas is refrigerant- R134A. Have an auto air conditioning shop, body shop or dealership check it and add to the system if necessary.
As for the compressor, if it turns on and works, you can hear a rumble (which stops when you turn the A/C off.

I, too, started having this problem last November. Fortunately, it started on the first cool week of the season. But I now am officially in need of A/C again. I took it to my mechanic (who I absolutely trust), who ran several tests and determined that the compressor had fried and needed to be replaced.
Whdrms, please let us know what you learn. I don't have the cash to drop on a new compressor and if it turned out to be something less major, I would be quite happy.

I still haven't went to the autoshop due to having cold weather here in NY for past week. It's going to get hot starting this weekend so I am going to have my car checked. I really hope it's ac gas recharge not a compressor. *finger crossed* ANd yes I will definately post what happens at the body shop...

why not test out the coil yourself, all you really need is a basic volt meter to measure voltage and ohms. unless you want to spend 400+ bucks for a compressor, new coil, and the labor to remove and replace the R134a
Similar Prob: Compressor won't kick on.
65k miles, Dealer waived $105 diagnostic fee. Was told the Compressor "Clutch" needed replacing as well as the "clutch's fuse." Quoted $950.
Obviously won't be fixing it there. Anyone else have this problem?

see my posts above, the part is about 80 bucks or so, and can be done without removing the compressor from the car. the fuse is nothing more than a 7.5 amp fuse, and there is also a relay under the hood which can be tested
whats all this talk about adding gas(freon) or filling gas if its low.
if your service shop determines the vehicle has low freon, there is a leak in the system. theres no point in "toping off" the ac system for itll leak again.
low freon, find leak, problem solved(providing all the other ac components are up to par
