Angry AC issue for over a year now

Back in March of 2010 I took my 08 in for service repairs still under warranty at the time. It was determined there was a leak. They filled it with refrig and dye and sent me on my way. Since then I havn't had any complaints with the coldness of the ac.

Today I took my car back for brake and rotor replacement and asked them to check the leak. My warranty was up in april and now there telling my there is a punture wound in the condenser, prob from a rock. Something seems fishy to me...

How likely would it be for a rock or any other road debree to have punctured the condenser? If there is indeed a punture wouldn't I notice warm air blowing instead of cold air?

They raped me for $160 diag fee's just to fig out the problem, which they determined over a year ago while under warranty.

Is the condenser easy to get to so I can visually inspect the it?

Thanks

It sits in front of the radiator so I guess it is possible for it catch something but if so, wouldn't you be able to see at least some indication of the dye the dealer put in before?

BTW, I have a condenser from my car sitting in my garage so if you want it let me know. $230 is dealer price and I can do WAY better than that lol.

very likely that there would be impact damage. Anything could have fallen on the road, then bounced into your condensor. You'd be able to see and hear the contents escaping the condesor. Did you ask to see the leak?

I visually inspected the condenser, I see no signs of a hole, dye ect...I also don't hear anything unusual.

I did not ask to see the leak, I was in a rush to get out of there and so were they. Today I called and asked to speak with the service mgr. New service mgr started today and said I'd likely hear back from him on tues.
