AC Compressor problems
Some background:
1.) Last summer I changed the MG clutch relay- issue resolved
2.) I did a 5AT to 6MT swap this winter and had the ac system recovered then vac/recharged at a shop - all has been well
Current issue- car has appropriate pressures low and high side for given ambient temps. but the clutch is cycling on and off every 3 to 5 sec till it just cuts out almost like there is too low a charge or too high a charge. So I got out my multi-meter & tested the MG clutch relay and socket both tested within spec. I tested MG clutch itself and at 70 degrees ambient it was 4.8 ohm's which is out of spec, and the gap was too open on the clutch as well.
When I was changing the coil I noticed some scoring on the serp belt thought it was odd cause it is about 12K new and there was some oil on the inner snap ring which I thought odd, I recheck the pressures prior to the test drive because I saw that the system had purged out the pressure relief valve, I added a small amount of r-134a into the system.
On test drive I get the same on off cycling of the ac, and now I hear what I call a stutter and smell the serp belt.
I think it is a failing compressor due to the serp belt scoring and small amount of oil I saw on the compressor shaft and it'll seize up completely shortly, if I were to cont. to run it, but I would like to hear the advice of OP, in case I missed something more obvious???????
