4-wheel alignment

Went to the dealer for a tire rotation and alignment (had a coupon). They showed me the printout of before & after measurements for the alignment. The front end was almost perfect after, but the rear had hardly any changes. I asked the service tech about it and he said the rear has no adjustable parts for alignment. Is this true? What am I supposed to do if/when the alignment gets really bad? The back wheels are already starting to lean inward, which will cause uneven tire wear.

Only thing they can change is the Toe, camber cannot be adjusted without a camber kit.

As long as toe is set correctly and you rotate regularly, camber will not ruin your tires.

Should use the SEARCH button

Fulani is correct. The rear suspension is not adjustable, and the front is only toe adjustable. I have the full A-spec treatment on my TL and found that the my rear tires are wearing unevenly on the inside causing a cupping effect. The tech thought I needed new struts but I told him that the suspension was lowered by about an inch. Ingalls makes a front and rear camber adjustment kit. They run around $160 for each kit and let you adjust your alignment back into spec. The only issue is that it will cost you around the same price to have them installed as well.

Well, if it was a tech at the stealership that did you alignment, and he didn't adjust it right, he's not as competent as he should be.

The next time you get your wheels aligned, ask them to dial in negative toe in the back. The lower you are, the more negative toe you'll need to offset the camber.

I just had an alignment done at the Acura dealship and they did make adjustments to all 4 wheels. He should me the before and after print out measurements. They did leave my steering wheel off center, looks like I will have to take it back to get it corrected.

I have been lucky with my allignments. Acura has never messed one up yet but for the time I have owned my car it has only needed one allignment in 50K miles

Toe is adjustable front and rear. Even though they stabilize the steering wheel, one annoyance when alignment is done, is that the tech drives the car and sees that the steering wheel is off center and is too lazy, or will loose money when he puts it back on the rack, so he chooses the easy way out, let it go that way and hope that the owner won't complain. Take it back!

I live in small town in Oklahoma where we don't have an Acura dealership. I recently had a front-end alignment shop install a rear camber adjustment kit on my 05 TL with 89,000 miles after initial reading showed the rear camber to be slightly out of spec on both sides. The kit brought the camber back within spec. and the bushings were OK, but within three months of driving, the outer edges of left and right rear tires are almost completely bald (which I did not notice earlier) indicating the toe-in was off.

I took my 05 back to the shop and rechecked the alignment on two machines at no charge , with the car loaded and unloaded. The rear toe-in was adjusted by 0.5 degrees to correct for the tires outer edge wear. Next week, I'm installing new tires and will closely monitor the tire wear the first 500 miles. I will give an update then.
