3rd gen. TL rubbing noise

My 08 TL-S has been making a rubbing noise when I make a sharp turn or U- turn. I brought it in to the dealership since it is still covered under my warranty and they said it was my rack and pinion. They replaced it and it happened again. So they replaced it and still there is no solution. I called AcuraCare and they said there is nothing more that they can do unless other people start to complain about it. So i am posting this out there and am asking you all to check the noise level if it you can hear it. If enough people complain to the dealership, they will make a recall for it. This is at least a $2K job.

Also, there has been a recent recall for the power steering hose. Apart toy it can get too hot and bust. Please forward to everyone you may know awho has a 3 rd gen. TL.

Thanks

Getting throw off by the rubbing description, so before I express my thoughts, does it make the sound when the car is stopped, but wheels turned max, or only when moving?

I'd like to know why one diagnosed it as a rack. Does it happen when turning the wheel or is there a rubbing noise when its fully locked, as in the steering wheel won't turn anymore.

It has a rubbing sound only when in motion. I don't hear it when it is still. Only happens when turned all the way.

Sure it's not a suspension component or tire rubbing. Put the doughnut spare on one side and give it a try each way, then try the spare on the other side and turn each way. If still the sound, check the backing plates as they can contact the rotor on turns. A while back had a Maxima that needed the backing plate bent out slightly.

I figured the dealer knows best since they have their trained staff looking into that problem. So they insisted it was the rack and pinion.

i had to bend the backing plate out on my car after i lowered it for some reason. i pulled out of the neighbirhood and heard a rubbing sound, knew it was metal, so i looking and seen a gash in the backing plate were the rotor rubbed it. guess it was from the toe being out, and the tie rod pushed against the plate when turning.

No problems since though. Good luck

If the sound is still present, guess the "trained staff" was in error. Take another TL-S for a ride to see the difference.
