3G TL Dash

Hello all! I'm not a person who knows car from front to back but I have a 04 Acura TL it only has 45k miles. This happened summer of 08 but I guess it got soo hot in GA and made my dash cracked. Right on top of the airbag there are two cracks. I was just wondering if anyone had experienced something like this? I honestly don't know what to do other than buy a new dash which is soooooooo expensive LOL. LMK!

Hi and welcome, this has happened to 3 members here during my whole time on acurazine that I can recall. I suggest you go to the dealer and talk to them. Honda might good-will replacement of it since it should not crack so soon.

Just one bit of advice: No disrespect, but take your father/husband/bf with you when you go to the stealership. Do not go alone.

BTW, welcome to the forum! Post pics!

I have to keep moisturizing my dash or else there looks like some chalky white stuff on it.

Thanks guys for responding!! Well heres the funny and sad part. I work in a dealership myself so I asked this guy that does work for us to seal it up so it don't crack again because I didn't think Acura/Honda would do anything for me. So he sealed it up pretty well and then like a month later it cracked again. Since then I've left it alone. I've been wanting to talk to Acura but I dont know......LOL. I know my car is out of warranty. It has 45k miles and its an 04. What do you say? Should I give it a try?

try it, honda has goodwilled transmissions for about 5000 dollars. Another member had theirs goodwilled by them. There's no harm in trying, esp for being a honda/acura employee.

as far as this, its a chemical that goes through the surface of the vinyl that causes the apperance. Alway clean the dash with water and woolite (10 parts water 1 part woolite), then with water, then dry. Then moisturize with 303 aerospace protectant to help shield it and restore color.

father/husband/bf.. what? lol.. you must not know some of the women I know, real pitbulls if you know what I mean. If things get real bad I call them in for support and sometimes need to pull them away before they get punched and I have to kill someone. So whenever an adjuster is in disagreement or a service writer is being dumb.. I give a good 'ole "O'rly?!.. well here.. you deal with him." -It's like throwing raw steak to a lion and I swear I can usually detect a backtalk whiper of the b-word after every dispute has ended. 100% success so far.. lol..

and to the OP.. I have 2 cracks on top of my dash about ~1" running vertically just off center. I'm looking into an appropriate filler that wont cause further damage that may occur from the material expanding and contracting in low / high temps. For now it's an inconvenient eye sore. I'll let you know if I find a good filler. Keep us updated if you can.

LOL. I have my wife do the same thing. Helps when one works in law firm and has good debate skills. Nothing bitchy but won't take no for answer. Works all the time.

If your car is still under warranty, how can they refuse to repair it? Take it in, what do you have to loose?

Acura dealerships have taken the stance that Dashes are trim and therefore not under the same warranty coverage.
