I just bought my TL 2 weeks ago,and on my way home from work lastnight tye engine light come.today i went to get the scanned & it read 3 different code

86-1

61-0
The car has 130k,i know the guy from the dealer said it's going to need a battery too.And to top it off i acciedently filled up the tank with 87 octane...if anyone can help me out thanks

 

well if you got the codes from them, ask them what they mean.

 

I literally googled the code:
P0420 Error Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

That means either your catalyst is bad or the sensor after the catalyst is bad. You can replace it with a factory one, aftermarket one or delete it completely. You can also try to run a fuel cleaner and see if it helps. Get the light reset and see if it comes back.

Don't use anything lower than 91 octane!

 

There is no 61-0, but 61-x is the driver's seat belt buckle switch/circuit
86-1 Faulty OPDS Seat Back Sensor
