2008 TL Vibration at 2100 RPM - HELP

Hello,

I have a 2008 Acura TL - Base. When I drive in any gear, I feel a vibration/buzzing at 2100 RPM. Once I pass 2100 RPM it goes away.
Took it to the dealership who told me at first that they couldn't replicate it. Once I drove with them the recognized it, but told me they do not know how to fix it since they do not know where it is comming from. When I was more persisten he said: "I can't throw parts at it, in hope to fix it. Acura won't re-imburse me for that".
The mechanic then said to show up when the Acura rep is there in 3 weeks. I will be away for work that week. Either way its very anoying and the response from the dealer was very unprofessional.

Any help would be more than helpful!!!

What an ass and a liar.. tell him you'll stick your foot up his ass for free.

Check for codes. Kinda strange.. could be an assortment of things. I'd rule out mounts just because your TL is newer and it only vibrates at speed and at a certain RPM. Does it vibrate in neutral at 2k as well? That would definitely indicate something with the engine.. could be electrical / mechanical.. more than likely a sensor.

btw.. what ocatane do you run? how many miles? fuel efficiency? any suspension mods?

edit: also check your driveshafts and the CV boots.. check for tears or leaking grease out the boot. Do full lock turns and listen for noise from the cv joints. Have you hit any potholes or curbs lately? hub bearings could be an issue as well..

That's what i said. I mean who can fix it if they can't. I told him, this is not a Yugo, its a 30+ k car that's only a year old.

I run 93 octane in it all the time. It has about 23k and the fuel efficiency is as expected. I haven't modified the car and it only vibrates when accelerating, not when it's in idle or when slowing down.
I thought maybe the 2 fans might be bad, since they react on RPM speeds, but I cannot replicate it when the car is in stand still.

I'm taking it to a different dealer. But nonetheless, it is very frustrating.

That tech gave you good advice.. If it wasn't the service manager who you talked to.. go back and talk only to the service manager. Complain and tell the service manager that you're going to leave negative feedback to the district manager if this is not resolved. Tell him that your on this forum and have discussed this issue and there is no reason they can't resolve the problem. If it's related to the drive components it could be a safety issue.

I don't think it's the fans.. they'd be noisy rather than cause vibration. You can check the housing for signs of damage / leaking though.. but probably not an issue. I'm leaning more towards the drive components since it won't do it at neutral and only on acceleration.. bad driveshaft / cv joint or hub bearing. Not good at all.. get it taken care of soon. btw.. where are you located? what dealership did you go to?

edit: It's not a shudder is it? if the drive components are okay.. the only thing else it might be is the transmission (typically higher rpm for shudder) .. yikes.. but you're probably okay..

I have louder noise at about 2000 rpm than any other rpm. I feel it's kind of resonance. not loud enough to bother me though.

The Service Manager is the person I spoke to. He was just arrogant, thinking that I had no idea about cars and he could feed me crap.

The noise isn't too bad if you drive just in the city, but when you are ont he highway, it never goes away at 75 mph which becomes very annoying.

I'm located in Pittsburgh, PA. There is a bigger dealer close by that i will take it to.

Reading on the MDX forums i noticed that the 2003/04 MDX's had a similar issue but no one posted a resolution for it.

the site filters any matching words to 'competing' boards.. I know what you're talking about though..

you said only while accelerating and happens through all 5 gears though.. and a vibration not noise.. I'm a bit confused..
