2008 TL-S Tighten fuel cap

For the passed few weeks ive been getting Tighten Fuel Cap message on my display it goes on and off randomly but i am getting prety annoyed and would like to fix it. Does anyone know where this issue is comiing from? is it the seal on cap or a sensor that has failed?

OP, common problem on our cars. it's the EVAP canister purge control valve.

it SHOULD be a recall/tsb...but it's not. so, if you're not under warranty you're gonna have to pay out of pocket for it. i think it's a $50-$75 part.

my 07 tl-s does the same thing.

^just living with it for now. it only happens like once every few months and i just hit the "ok" button on the nav screen. it's not like it causes any damage or anything.

i'll eventually get it fixed when/if i have some warranty work/recall stuff to do.

i just don't like going to the dealer if i don't have to. although i think that you can replace this part yourself...i remember seeing a thread about it somewhere.

I recently picked up my 08 TL from a dealership the same night I picked up the car the fuel cap light came on. I figured it was the gas cap that needs to be replaced, didn't think much of it as it went away when I started the car the next time. But then came back on a few days later. Finally after a few weeks I brought the car back Acura, I was told there is a software update that fixes the problem. I would give them a call and confirm and since you have an 08 maybe still under warranty.

Same story.
So I replaced purge control valve today and have a question.
Do I need to have check engine code reset or will it clear on its own?
Thanks.

I looked up other forums and it looks like all of them, TL, RL, RDX, TSX ..... have same problem. Shame on Acura. Called my local dealer to get an estimate on purge valve replacement and even chick at the front desk tells me same crap about three clicks.

I called my local dealer about it today and they suggested I contact Acura Canada as I'm out of warranty. The person at Acura Canada right away said he knew about the issue and would take care of this if it isthe same problem as noted in the TSB. I'm going to get the power steering hose recall done at the same time - car goes in Monday morning.
