2007 type S Auto Transmission blown
The Automatic transmission on my 2007 type-s [150k miles] has a small crack and has lost all fluid. Looking to replace.
There is a crack in the housing, so it is not salvageable.
Need some advice, i really want to keep the car.
1) what should i expect to pay for a replacement?
2) recommend a new transmission? what brand?
3) consider a used/rebuilt trans?
4) recommend a shop / mechanic in chicago -land area (fox valley/st charles).
thanks in advance, any idea/advice is much appreciated.

I used this a some time ago, it works OK and made a big improvement with me pouring it on and getting decently thick layer (don't spread it thin or it will barely work). Still have dark spots so I'll hit it with some other cleaner at some point.

thanks for the tip.
Got a reco to use Dawn dish soap from a friend, and it worked well. Used a garden sprayer with hot/warm water, just before it rained.
I had tried other dish soap (dollar tree), but a DAWN did a much better job..not sure what they put in this stuff but it was surely more effective than dollar-tree brand.
hope to hear from the t-shop this week.

turns out It was the radiator...blew the transmission lines right off. Shop replaced radiator and lines, now back on the road.
Was likely the original radiator.
I was aware that there was some corrosion / rust on the connection points, but didn't expect it to fail in this manner
I got lucky that it happened only 50 yards from my driveway and didn't melt the damn engine/transmission.
Check your lines folks !!
