Ok so I have a 2007 TL Type S, a couple months ago I started getting a CEL with a message on my Nav saying emissions code P0430 which to me means bank 2 cat, but not 100% sure. Thing is, it only stays on for a day or two tops, goes away then maybe, maybe a month later it comes back. Ideas?

 

It's not every month but it comes and goes, never the same amount of time or mileage. I do not trust the dealer near me, they tried charging me $250 for a recall and had to fight them over it.

 

On and off is a tough one as it can be caused by a variety of problems, but normally either a bad cat or bad downstream O2 sensor. I would replace the downstream sensor first, or, as the downstream sensors are the same, you may want to go through the aggravation of switching the two downstream sensors and see if the code changes indicting sensor, or if it remains the same, cat.

 

Why do we need emissions? Lol such a headache

 

Because we only have one Earth and we should probably try to take care of it if we want to keep living here?
