2007 TL-S - Transmission slips once and then is fine for a month
I've had the strangest problem with my 2007 Type S. It started about 6 or 9 months ago, and would happen about once a month. Typical example: I'd put the car in drive, back out of a parking spot, move out of the parking lot (some short accels/stops) then as I accelerated to get on the road, the engine would rev up but the transmission would do absolutely nothing - the car didn't budge in the least. It was as if I was in neutral. I could sit there and rev the engine all day and it would be stuck like that. If I put the car in neutral, let the revs get back to idle, then went back into drive, the car would work perfectly normally for another month.
When the problem occurs, the car is definitely in Drive (it always happens after I've started/stopped one or two times), and the indicator stays on "D".
I've taken it into the dealer twice, but amazingly the onboard computers apparently recorded no fault (it's beyond me how could they not notice that the RPMs were 6 or 7k and the car was in drive but the car was not moving?), and of course the dealer was not able to replicate it since it only happens once or twice a month.
Over the last month it's been getting worse - now it happens several times a week. Almost often enough I might be able to make it happen at the dealer. So I guess that's my next step.
But I was wondering - has anyone else heard of anything like this before?

Check your shift cable & adjust if necessary.. and get your trans gear switch checked out.

I mentioned that the dashboard transmission indicator stays in "D" when this is happening, but I don't know if the data for that indicator comes from the transmission itself or from the shifter. Does anyone know what generates this info?

Anyone actually check the fluid level??

It's been checked 7 or 8 times (me, the maintenance shop that I initially thought was responsible, the dealer).

In that case you can try a product like auto RX. There could be crud in the valvebody causing one of the valves to hang up.
