2007 TL-s tranny question
Hi friends, Ive had my TL for about 3 years and is approaching the 50k mark, over the weekend we got hit with a massive storm and my car has never been too good in the snow, to top it off my front tires needed to be replaced, anyhow i got caught outside driving back home and so i placed my car on the Low gear and prayed to get home, on the way specially going up slopes my car would barely move, im hoping this was due to the low traction on my tires and not my tranny, as i was flooring my gas at times and i was not feeling the power i usually feel from my car, if i came to a complete i would have to turn the wheels back and forth while flooring the gas in order to get my car going....anyhow this went on for about 2 hours trying to get home....i didnt smell any burning fluids and no lights went off on my dash (not sure if there is a light on my control pannel that would let me know something is wrong with my tranny though).
anyways i was finally able to park my car and so today in the morning i went to turn on my car just to warm it up, the car kicks into reverse, drive, low gear and even into manual shifting, it did a slight jump when i would switch but it did, now when i was in park what i found odd was that when i reved my engine my RPM will stay stuck on 8, it wouldnt redline... and so this worried me.
i am now going out of my head hoping is not my tranny and it was just my tires that need to be changed, the messed up part is that i cant move my car till the snow clears, so i was hoping someone here could give me an insight, either tell me to get ready to dip deep into my pockets or not to worry that it was just the tires and the snow messing with me....
worst case scenerio, how much money im i looking at for a tranny replacement of an 07 tl-s?

I'm sure your trans is fine.
You say the tach was stuck on 8? That's past redline. Did you mean 4 or 5? The rev limit is lower in park and neutral. I can't remember if it's 4,000 or 5,000 but it's way lower and normal.
You don't want to redline it in neutral or with a cold engine, it's not good for it.

you have an electrical problem or two- possibly from storms
Ck the wheel speed sensors for damaged wires
Test the ABS and you will know if the speed sensors are working, and may explain a few things
when the traction control is active it blinks a light on the dash
look at battery ground wires and pos connections,,wd40 anything suspect
Have a parts store test the battery and charging systems- its free!!
low voltage makes the car act up too

Im hoping 8 means= only reads 800 rpm despite actual revving
the ecu prevents high revs when in park or N,,my gen2 is set at 5000 rpm
to protect expensive internal parts, you should be very similar
there are low oil pressure protections built in too--ck oil level and condition--smell like oil or burnt oil?

when the car is cold the trans will engage gears slightly harder, but not slam
let it shift into gear at idle
And when cold- stay off the gas in hopes of a way to engage faster--that just makes the line pressure higher and harder to get in R
