2006 Transmission Shudder Fixed!!

2006 TL with 149K on it, just bought. Started having a shudder on light acceleration and seemed to always occur at 38-40 mph, shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Changed 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches which did nothing. Had already done only one 3 quart tranny fluid change. Had not gotten around to doing a second fluid change yet. Finally did the 2nd tranny fluid change (with Honda branded ATF) and have not have one slip or shudder since. I will do a third change soon but was absolutely amazed that this fixed the problem. Not sure how long it had been since the fluid had been changed but the old fluid was not that dark. Medium brown in color with a slight pink-or more orange tinge. Have a Toyota Sienna with 215k on it and have not once changed the tranny fluid on it and it shifts like a beauty. These TL trannys are apparently more temperamental. If you have the TL shudder, do the tranny fluid 3x3 drain/fill first. This will likely solve the issue for you. If not, you probably have more serious tranny issues.

Good to hear. I don't know why more people don't change their ATF more often. I'm admittedly over the top, doing a drain and refill every 8-10K miles since my TL is the first Honda product I've owned with an AT instead of MT. But still, at the least, I think anyone with a Honda or Acura AT should be doing a drain and refill every 20K miles. And that's assuming you already did the 3x3 when you first bought the car (assuming it was purchased used).
