2006 TL Break Slip/Issue-Please Help
Hi--
I purchased a certified 2006 Tl and absolutely love it. Anyway, I have been noticing an issue with the breaks recently.
When I pull the car up a driveway that is inclined to park it, i hold my foot on the break, gently put the car from auto drive to park, and pull the parking break back. After this is completed, I obviously pull my foot off the break. This is where the problem exists-my car often rolls back a drop and makes a loud noise. I think the brake is "slipping" or the gears are getting stuck. This really worrys me-why would this happen? It actually just happened on a completely level surface as I was parking. I will be going back to the dealer under warranty, but have no clue why this would happen on a practically new car (around 30k miles near perfect condition). So much for the acura certified inspection...lol.
Any thoughts or suggestions or similiar stories would be greatly appreciated. Do you think it a minor or serious problem? I will definitely chekc back for posts, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Three Wheelin'
sounds like rear brakes...how much travel you get on the parking brake handle when u pull it up? that may need to be adjusted, and also, the rear pads could be fried

The drum parking brake doesn't hold well (on any car) in reverse. The noise you hear is likely the parking pawl engaging in the trans.

Is the parking brake working? On a slight incline, leave the trans in neutral, set parking brake and see if the car rolls. If the parking brake isn't working, as has been stated above, you'll hear the noise from the trans.
Many years ago I did some work for a fellow that had a Vette. The rear wheels needed to be removed to fix the parking brakes, but he didn't want to spend the money, so he took it to the local service station that adjusted the cable and told him it was fixed. Only problem was, the handle felt snug, but the brakes weren't being energized. He parked it at a restaurant on a hill, set the parking brake, and left the car. The car rolled down the hill into 2 other cars and then stopped against the side of the building. Fiberglass all over.
