2006 TL ATF test report - spike in aluminum, iron, and copper
Blackstone Labs just sent me the test results for my automatic transmission fluid. There was a spike in aluminum, iron, and copper (hopefully you can see the data in the included image).
Other notes:
There was a noticeable amount of debris on the drain plug magnet this time. All transmission related components are still original: transmission filter, torque converter, pump, pressure sensors, etc. No noise or unusual shifting at this time. 170K miles on car. 20K miles on ATF. Mom and dad drivers.
Any recommendations?

Still less than it was back in 2011. Even using the best test data back in 2014, that was many times the normal average the trans was operating properly.
I'd change the filter and just drive the car as there's nothing much one can do about the results.
Just curious as to what fluid you're using?

I purchased the car pre-owned with 105K miles and from the 2011 test results I believe the ATF had never been changed. Recent test results with 20K miles have about the same or higher levels of contaminants with fluid run for 105K miles. Something has begun to liberate metals into the system.
I am using Honda Genuine ATF DW-1

Maybe you want to hear the converter (Al) is wearing, along with the clutches (Cu).

Original ATF filter?
I'd change out the filter (my car was from a 160k car and it was all mashed up to hell....likely never changed).
And do more frequent 1x3 drain and fills, maybe every other oil change or so...instead of waiting many miles....doing periodic drain and fills will keep a rotating fresh fluid inside.
