Angry 2006 tl 6mt issue

Has anyone had an issue with the 6mt popping out of 1st gear? The scenario would be your slowly moving along in traffic, not picking up enough speed to shift to 2nd gear, but on deceleration the stick would pop out into neutral. Happened repeatedly in slow moving traffic. Just curious if this has happened before. I will give more info as I recieve it later on this A.M. from the dealer.

I would take it right into the dealer.....be sure that you know exactly how to duplicate the problem so they can't blow smoke up your ass and say there is nothing wrong!

Dealer should have no problem finding and fixing this - under warranty.

Nope. Never happened to me. If it is that repeatable I agree that you should be able to demonstrate it to the dealer. Make them go out with you and show them. Otherwise you may get told they couldn't duplicate it. (Which is often true since they aren't "you" doing what "you" do to make it happen)

This is Smoketl. (I'm using my cousin's account)

The dealer was able to duplicate it repeatedly. So far they are handling this better than I expected. Tomo in the A.M. we will discuss the replacement vehicle. Once all the details are worked out I will let you guys know.

Thanks

Yes, Have the same problem! I have 2004. I brought to the dealer and they could not reproduce the problem. It does not happen all the time..but it is frustrating. Please keep us posted if you get it fixed.

Thanks
Paul

Since I didn't have the car 24 hours, i was not looking to have them crack open the tranny to find the problem. After dealing with the service manager, the Sales manager, and everyone else...I got a 2007 Type-S. They were really great about it. So to answer your question...I have no clue what was wrong with it...to be honest I never wanted to know...the car was too new to have those issues.

Yes mine pops out of first gear frequently and third once in a while. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. I then took them out and tried to show them. It would only do it one time with the service rep in the car so he said that with it not happening very frequently they wouldn't fix the problem. He told me to come back when it starts happening more. The other option is to let them have the car for a few days so they can drive it more. What a bunch of crap. This really made me angry. I really don't want them to be out beating on my car just to find out what I already know.

I took delivery of the first 6-speed TL in Milwaukee, if not Wisconsin.

Delivery was supposed to be early November, 2003. Just prior to delivery, the dealer discovered a problem with the transmission popping out of gear. After opening up the transmission, they discovered a problem with the manufacturing of the gears. They eventually replaced the transmission before I took delivery in early December of 2003.

I was told the problem was a known manufacturing defect on the early production 6-speeds, and that they believed the problem had been identified and corrected, but a few cars may have slipped through the cracks.

I never experienced the problem with the car after delivery. I had the car until 10/05 and drove it 46,000 miles.

I posted about it in this very forum. See this thread I made on the subject:

I guess it's a bummer to hear that this problem was known since the '04 models and supposedly fixed. Mine is an '06.
