2005 TL transmission shot - junk value?

Hello all! I have a 2005 TL with a shot transmission. I’ve been told the engine (175k) is a desirable engine but the scrap yard is offering barely anything. Is this car worth more than scrap price or should I just take their offer? The car is in Louisville, KY.

We need more info. You can get a used tranny installed for about $1,500 if you look hard.

I’d say it is somewhat worn out. Body has several dings, torn leather front seat and the Nav screen is acting up. According to kbb, it has a private party sale value of $2600 and a trade in of approx $1500. This is my daughter’s car and I was planning on getting her a newer car anyway for college. I appreciate you replying to my question!

So, lets say it costs you $1,500 to put in a used AV6 transmission; are you going to find a car as nice as the one for $1,500?
