2005 TL Malfunction Indicator Lamp

My 2005 TL MIL is blinking and its not the gas cap!! Its running rough, feels sluggish, when i accelrate from low rpms and the exhaust smells rich. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

Take the car to the local auto parts store, one that will read the codes, e.g. AutoZone, then list the code(s). This will at least narrow it down.

Those are misfire codes.
Check for a bad ignition coil pack-- pull each coil pack off and re-connect to see if there is any change in your idle.

G/L.

The codes aren't going to go away until you replace the bad coil(s).
I don't recall if the codes will stay for several ignition cycles unless you have a reset tool.

You should be listening for a change in the idle as each coil is disconnected.
A change in the idle = good coil.
No change in the idle = bad coil, which must be replaced.

After researching the symptoms (sluggish idle, exhaust smells rich) I determined that it might be the 02 sensor. I replaced that, reset the codes and it still ran sluggish. However instead of 0300-0306, i only registered one code which was 0305. So i switched out four and five coils then reset the codes. Got a code back showing misfiring on P0304. I bought a new coil and booyah!!! Problem solved! Thank You. I wonder how much the dealer would of charged me for all of that!

will, do you have to remove the ignition coil connectors (wire) then the ignition coil, or leave the connectors attached to the coil and remove the whole coil/wire?

Remove the electrical connection. No wire connected, no power to the coil.

you may want to keep the 02 sensor you replaced and save it for later as it did not need to be replaced.

Thanks turbo,
I cleared my 0300 codes, but if they come back I'll try this to figure out if I have a bad one.
